Solar Estimator/Sales Engineer - Large Energy/Mechanical - Irvine, CA

The company has $40+ million in backlog of large commercial solar projects and is making an effort to expand the PV/Solar team.

This position has remote-flexibility if someone needs it, and the projects are predominantly in Orange County, Los Angeles, and the Inland Empire.

POSITION:
  • Solar Sr. Sales Engineer / Estimator โ€“ Large Commercial Projects
    • REMOTE-Flexibility
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Prior experience in estimating/sales engineering within the PV/Solar space
  • General knowledge of ESCOs and EPCs and financing, funding language for deal structures
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Receives project/relationship from the Outside Solar Sales Executive who performed the initial qualification
  • Conducts local Bid/Job-Walks (about 15-25% of the time)
  • Defines project scope and performs the technical evaluation process
  • Analyze various reports, tech specs, work orders, layout drawings, compliance/legal/code documents,
  • Performs Cost Engineering, calculates the estimate and profitability
  • Perform Take-Offs and Develop RFQ packages
  • Understand Costs: BOMs (Bill of Materials) and Subcontractor pricing
  • Develops and fine-tunes Bid packages for commercial PV/Solar projects
  • Produces proposed design before handing off to the Project Development Engineer
  • Sizes the panels for the job whether for Roofs, Carports, Groundmounts, etc.
  • Discovers changes/set-backs such as Title requirements, etc
  • Relationship management with Subcontractors and Material Vendors
  • Stay up-to-date on market conditions: incentives, rebates, tariffs, etc
