About the Opportunity:
A well-established building automation contractor is seeking a skilled Controls Technician to support projects throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. This field-based position includes primarily local work (80% within DFW) with occasional regional travel (20%). Ideal applicants will have mid- to senior-level experience and be comfortable handling commissioning, programming adjustments, and troubleshooting within BAS environments.
Position Details:
- Title: Controls Technician
- Location: Richardson, TX (Dallas–Fort Worth area)
- Status: Full-Time | Field-Based
- Travel: 80% Local (DFW) | 20% Regional Overnight
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, and verify operation of building automation systems (BAS)
- Perform point-to-point checkout and follow established commissioning procedures
- Troubleshoot, adjust, and refine installed BAS programs and sequences
- Support equipment start-up, control wiring termination, and field integration
- Revise sequences of operation and make programming edits as required
- Communicate clearly with end users, GCs, facility teams, and internal staff
- Collaborate with installers and project teams to ensure successful deployments
Ideal Candidate:
- 3+ years of experience as a Controls Technician or in a BAS-focused field role
- Strong understanding of BAS architecture, sequences, and control strategies
- Hands-on experience with ALC or comparable platforms (Tridium, Schneider, Siemens, JCI, Vykon)
- Excellent field diagnostics and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment
