About the Opportunity:

A leading mechanical and controls contractor is seeking an experienced Sr. BAS Programmer to support Building Automation Systems (BAS) projects throughout Southern California. This hybrid role blends remote programming with onsite field work across Orange County, Los Angeles, and the Inland Empire. The company operates multiple branches and delivers large-scale retrofit, service, and design-build projects for major enterprise clients.

Position Details:

  • Title: Sr. BAS Programmer
  • Location: SoCal Metro – OC, LA, IE
  • Work Schedule: 50% Remote / 50% Field (varies by project)
  • Status: Full-Time | Overtime Eligible
  • Union Status: Open to Union (Local 250) or Non-Union candidates
  • Openings: Mid-Level and Senior-Level Roles Available

Ideal Candidate:

  • Hands-on experience with DDC programming (block or script)
  • Ability to configure, troubleshoot, and commission BAS controllers
  • Comfortable developing software from templates or fully custom logic
  • Proficient with BAS protocol integrations: BACnet, LON, Modbus, TCP/IP
  • Skilled at rewriting and refining control sequences from engineering documents
  • Strong field knowledge for hardware setup, testing, and diagnostics
  • Effective communicator who can coordinate subcontractors and installation teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and implement BAS programming for both retrofit and new construction
  • Upload, configure, and refine system databases for project-specific applications
  • Commission controllers and validate HVAC system performance in the field
  • Ensure seamless integration across protocols and third-party platforms
  • Oversee subcontractors and assist with field installation support when needed
