BAS Controls Technician – Billings, MT – Commercial, Industrial & Energy Facilities – $36–$50/hr + OT + Vehicle

A growing Building Automation & HVAC Controls integrator is seeking a skilled BAS Controls Technician to support commercial, industrial, and energy-sector facilities across the Billings region. This role involves hands-on work with DDC controls, system troubleshooting, new installations, and optimization of automated HVAC systems.

  • Title: BAS Controls Technician
  • Location: Billings, MT (regional travel within Eastern Montana)
  • Pay Range: $36.00 – $50.00/hr (DOE)

About the Role:

This position supports new construction, retrofit, and service-based controls projects for a wide range of facilities including hospitals, manufacturing plants, office buildings, government sites, and energy production operations. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, wire, and configure BAS/DDC controllers, sensors, and network components
  • Perform equipment checkouts, point-to-point testing, and full system commissioning
  • Troubleshoot HVAC control loops, network communication, and device-level issues
  • Modify and tune BAS programs to ensure proper operation and energy performance
  • Create and update graphics, alarm settings, and trend logs
  • Collaborate with mechanical contractors, electricians, and on-site facility teams
  • Interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical plans, and sequences of operation
  • Provide end-user support and training for building operators

Ideal Candidate:

  • 2+ years of experience in BAS/DDC controls or HVAC automation
  • Experience with Tridium, Alerton, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, or similar platforms
  • Strong HVAC and mechanical systems knowledge
  • Competent with control wiring, low-voltage installation, and field calibration
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and clean MVR
