Controls Engineer

Join a leading organization dedicated to delivering top-notch engineering solutions as you step into the role of a Controls Engineer in Charlotte, NC. In this dynamic position, you'll leverage your expertise in control systems to configure, program, start up, and commission custom control systems designed to meet client specifications.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for:

  • Configuring and programming control systems for various applications, including:
  • Boiler and boiler plant control systems, both BMS and combustion control
  • Chiller plant control systems
  • Kiln and furnace control systems
  • Batch processes and SCADA systems
  • HMI systems
  • Interfacing with a range of hardware, including:
  • Honeywell HC900 Controller
  • Honeywell ControlEdge PLC
  • Allen-Bradley PLCs and various other industrial controllers
  • Utilizing and mastering software packages such as Honeywell Experion HS, Redlion Crimson, and Iconics to assist with control system design and testing.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to coordinate design and programming activities, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Validating and commissioning control systems during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and providing on-site training to customers.
  • Performing troubleshooting and reconfiguration of defective systems and conducting scheduled maintenance and warranty work.
  • Drafting documentation for assigned tasks and providing valuable insights for potential system improvements or modifications.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant engineering experience.
  • A background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, including 2-4 years of undergraduate education, associate's degree, or relevant certification.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the capacity to learn proprietary software.
  • Experience tuning control loops to optimize system performance.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet Network Systems and interfacing control systems to these networks.
  • Proficiency with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix PLCs, along with Honeywell HC900, is highly desirable.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and HMIs, particularly Redlion and Iconics, will be advantageous.
  • The ability to lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally move up to 70 pounds.
