About the Opportunity

A leading Building Automation & HVAC controls provider is seeking an experienced BAS Controls Technician to support projects across Honolulu and the surrounding islands. This role focuses on hands-on commissioning, troubleshooting, and service of DDC/BAS systems in commercial, resort/hospitality, government, and healthcare environments throughout Oahu.

This is an excellent opportunity for a controls professional who enjoys field work, complex mechanical systems, and supporting facilities with high reliability and energy performance requirements unique to island operations.

  • Location: Honolulu, HI (Oahu-based, limited inter-island travel)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $45.00 – $62.00/hr (Depending on Experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission, service, and repair BAS/DDC systems for commercial and institutional facilities
  • Perform point-to-point testing, functional verification, and equipment start-up
  • Troubleshoot HVAC controls, communication networks, and mechanical system operation
  • Install and configure sensors, VAV devices, actuators, controllers, and field components
  • Update BAS programming, graphics, and system databases as needed
  • Support owners, engineers, and facility teams with controls-related technical issues
  • Document system adjustments, test results, and service recommendations

Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years of BAS/DDC controls or HVAC controls field experience
  • Hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls, Alerton, or similar BAS platforms
  • Strong understanding of airside/waterside HVAC equipment and control sequences
  • Familiarity with BAS communication protocols: BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks
  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans, wiring diagrams, and submittals
  • Strong communication and customer service ability, especially in hospitality and government settings
  • Self-sufficient technician comfortable operating independently in the field
