A well-established Building Automation and HVAC Controls contractor is seeking a skilled Controls Technician to support commercial BAS/DDC installations, service, and commissioning throughout the Fresno and Central Valley region. This role is ideal for a technician experienced in building automation who enjoys field work, problem-solving, and working across a mix of commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and municipal facilities.

About the Role

The Controls Technician will be responsible for the installation, start-up, programming support, troubleshooting, and commissioning of Building Automation Systems across a wide variety of commercial environments. You will work closely with mechanical contractors, electricians, engineers, and project managers to ensure systems are installed and operating to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and commission DDC/BAS control systems for HVAC applications
  • Troubleshoot hardware, network, and control issues in the field
  • Perform point-to-point checkout, system testing, and functional verification
  • Install and terminate sensors, controllers, actuators, and communication wiring
  • Assist in loading, editing, or tuning BAS programs and graphics
  • Work with contractors and end users during equipment start-up and commissioning
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics, and sequences of operation
  • Document work performed and maintain clear communication with supervisors and customers

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience as a BAS Controls Technician or similar HVAC controls role
  • Strong hands-on skills with BAS/DDC device installation and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and control prints
  • Comfort working in commercial, industrial, and government facilities
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
  • Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record

Preferred Technical Experience

  • Experience with platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Distech, Automated Logic, Siemens, or Johnson Controls
  • Knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment including RTUs, VAVs, AHUs, chillers, and boilers
  • Prior commissioning experience on new construction or retrofit projects
