Manager of Materials Operations

In this role, you will be at the forefront of optimizing inventory performance and streamlining purchasing and materials management processes. Your expertise will ensure that our materials operations are not only effective but also aligned with best practices and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the purchasing and materials management team, effectively addressing any exceptions that arise.
  • Implement a manage-by-exception system for warehouse and purchasing management, utilizing dashboards and metrics to identify and resolve operational challenges.
  • Continuously assess and enhance inventory management performance by monitoring key indicators such as stockout rates, inventory turnover, and excess & obsolete inventory (E&O).
  • Identify and execute initiatives to improve operational efficiency, promote optimization, and enhance safety standards across relevant functions.
  • Develop, maintain, and review performance reports and dashboards, ensuring that target metrics are met through productive feedback mechanisms.
  • Oversee the processing of exceptions, including expedited orders, item returns, and repairs, to maintain seamless operations.
  • Conduct employee evaluations by setting performance objectives, providing regular feedback, and completing comprehensive annual reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory counting schedules, both cyclical and annual.
  • Manage task scheduling, work assignments, and training for team members to foster a knowledgeable and efficient workforce.
  • Maintain accurate and timely pricing contracts for purchase orders generated through the system.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent undergraduate education is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in materials management or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn proprietary software systems.
  • Deep understanding of purchasing operations, warehouse management techniques, and analytical methods for metrics calculation.
  • Diligent in managing operational workloads and adept at handling exceptions.
  • Ability to comprehend and address specific vendor and customer needs effectively.
  • Proficiency in identifying improvement opportunities and developing actionable solutions.
