Controls Engineer

Join a dynamic team in Raleigh, NC, where you'll have the opportunity to make an impact as a skilled Controls Engineer. In this role, you will be instrumental in configuring, programming, and commissioning bespoke control systems tailored to client specifications. Your expertise will also be key in troubleshooting existing systems, performing maintenance, providing technical support, and suggesting enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and program a variety of control systems, including:
  • Boiler and boiler plant control systems (both BMS and combustion control)
  • Chiller plant control systems
  • Kiln and furnace control systems
  • Other process control systems and batch processes
  • SCADA and HMI systems

  • Work with various hardware solutions, including Honeywell HC900 Controllers, ControlEdge PLCs, Honeywell LX Controllers, and Allen-Bradley PLCs.

  • Utilize software tools such as Honeywell Experion HS, Redlion Crimson, Iconics, and other SCADA platforms for efficient system operation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and program control solutions.
  • Assist in validating and commissioning control systems during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
  • Offer on-site customer training to ensure optimal system usage.
  • Provide input for system improvements and modifications to the Project Manager.
  • Participate in sales and proposal development, showcasing technical expertise.
  • Conduct warranty work and maintain comprehensive documentation for all tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in controls engineering.
  • An associate's degree or applicable certification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred, with two to four years of undergraduate work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to quickly learn company-specific software.
  • Skills in tuning control loops to meet system requirements effectively.
  • Experience using Digital Volt/Ohm Meters and transmitter simulators.
  • Strong understanding of Ethernet Network Systems and the interaction between control systems and network architecture.
  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix PLCs, with Honeywell HC900 experience considered a plus.
  • Capability to work with HMIs and SCADA systems; Redlion and Iconics knowledge is advantageous.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and able to occasionally lift/move up to 70 pounds.
