Manager of Materials Operations

We are actively seeking a talented Manager of Materials Operations who will lead the charge in optimizing our materials management functions. In this role, you will be at the forefront of process improvement and inventory management, ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently. As a key leader, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining strategic processes that measure and improve inventory performance while effectively managing purchasing and materials tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct a team in daily purchasing and materials management operations, addressing challenges and exceptions as they arise.
  • Establish and uphold a manage-by-exception philosophy for warehouse and purchasing operations, utilizing dashboards and metrics to proactively identify and tackle issues.
  • Monitor and enhance inventory management performance by tracking stockout rates, inventory turns, and excess/obsolete inventory.
  • Spearhead initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, optimizing processes, and enhancing safety within all relevant operations.
  • Generate comprehensive reports and dashboards that uphold target metrics, providing direct feedback to the team for continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate smooth processing of exceptions, including expedited requests, item returns, and repairs.
  • Assess employee performance by establishing clear objectives, providing regular feedback, and conducting annual reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to established cycle and annual inventory count procedures and schedules.
  • Oversee work assignments, scheduling, and training processes for relevant team members.
  • Maintain accurate and timely purchase pricing contracts for system-generated purchase orders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess an undergraduate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Bring a minimum of five years of related experience in materials management or a similar area.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn and utilize company-specific software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of purchasing and warehouse operations management, including analysis and metrics.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to operational diligence and responsiveness in managing workloads and exceptions.
  • Understanding of unique vendor and customer requirements to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities and proactively propose and implement effective solutions.
