Job Title: Mechanical Commissioning Agent (CxA)

Location: Various Onsite Locations with Travel Requirements

Job Summary:

Are you ready to take your technical expertise to the next level? We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Mechanical Commissioning Agent (CxA) to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will leverage your knowledge of the commissioning process to ensure that mechanical systems operate according to design intent and Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR). As a third-party authority, you will perform vital verification and functional performance testing across diverse projects, following the established ASHRAE Guideline 0 standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and apply available training documentation to enhance daily activities, ensuring best practices in the field.
  • Maintain clear, confident, and professional communication with clients, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the commissioning (Cx) process for effective onsite implementation.
  • Develop commissioning procedures using established templates, ensuring consistency and clarity.
  • Familiarize yourself with testing durations to assist Project Managers in developing efficient Cx schedules.
  • Partake in the creation of load bank plans for integrated mechanical system testing.
  • Assist in the development of the Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) Verification Plan and conduct TAB Verification as directed.
  • Deploy data loggers for necessary data collection in compliance with project requirements.
  • Execute functional testing in collaboration with team members, documenting results meticulously.
  • Maintain a daily onsite testing log, ensuring all findings and activities are recorded accurately.
  • Conduct infrared (IR) scanning and analysis, documenting findings in spreadsheets and marking IR photos for mechanical equipment.
  • Collaborate on the development of Integrated System Test (IST) Reports, utilizing excel charts for data representation.

Requirements:

  • Education: A 4-year college degree or equivalent field experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience: No prior work experience required, making this a great entry-point opportunity.
  • Knowledge: A general understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems is essential.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and capable of performing basic mathematical calculations, including percentages and proportions.
  • Communication: Strong ability to understand instructions and effectively communicate information clearly and succinctly.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organization and leadership abilities, with a strong focus on teamwork and adaptability.
  • Work Flexibility: Position requires the ability to work remotely and travel to project sites approximately 50-75% of the time.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

This position requires a dedicated home office setup, conducive to daily responsibilities. The role involves significant onsite engagement, particularly during testing and inspection phases. Candidates should be prepared for a travel rotation consisting of three weeks onsite followed by one week of remote work. For those positioned near project sites, onsite work is expected.

Additionally, candidates must be physically capable of:

  • Engaging in strenuous physical activities, including standing for eight hours or more.
  • Navigating rugged or unstable terrain and working under various weather conditions.
  • Handling test equipment, potentially weighing up to 30 pounds, and being comfortable climbing ladders, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as needed.
