Mechanical Commissioning Agent (CxA)

Overview:

Are you a detail-oriented professional with a technical background eager to make an impact in the commissioning process? We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Commissioning Agent (CxA) to serve as a third-party authority, ensuring that mechanical systems operate in alignment with design intent and Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR). This role offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with clients, engineers, and contractors in the field, while enhancing your skills in functional performance testing and system verification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and implement available training documentation to drive daily activities and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, Engineers of Record, General Contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Acquire a solid understanding of the commissioning (Cx) process to implement it effectively on-site.
  • Develop commissioning procedures utilizing established templates.
  • Assist Project Managers in the creation of Cx schedules through familiarization with testing durations.
  • Support the development of load bank plans essential for comprehensive mechanical system testing during integrated assessments.
  • Assist in creating and executing the Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) Verification plan and perform TAB verification duties as directed.
  • Deploy data loggers in designated areas for accurate data collection as per instructions.
  • Collaborate with team members to conduct functional testing and maintain detailed daily onsite testing logs.
  • Perform infrared (IR) scanning and analysis, documenting findings in spreadsheets and marking IR photos for mechanical equipment.
  • Contribute to the development of an Integrated Systems Testing (IST) Report, including creating Excel charts to present collected data.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field experience is required.
  • Work Experience: No prior experience necessary, making this a great entry-level opportunity for recent graduates.
  • Technical Skills: General understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems is preferred.
  • Military experience is a plus, showcasing leadership and discipline.
  • Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs is essential.
  • Mathematical Skills: Capability to compute figures and perform calculations involving percentages and proportions.
  • Communication: Ability to convey information clearly and simply, ensuring understanding among diverse audiences.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities with a proactive approach to workload management.
  • Leadership and Team Player Attitude: Demonstrated ability to lead and work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Dependability: Strong commitment to completing tasks thoroughly and on time.
  • Problem Solving: Adept at critical thinking and problem resolution.

Work Environment & Conditions:

  • This role requires a dedicated home office setup conducive to daily responsibilities.
  • The position includes significant travel (50–75% of the year) to various project sites, with a travel rotation of 3 weeks on-site and 1 week of remote work.
  • If local to a job site (within ~50 miles), you will be expected to work on-site regularly, subject to client and business needs.
  • Candidates must be physically capable of performing lab work and site inspections, which may include standing for long periods, moving in rugged conditions, and handling equipment up to 30 pounds.
  • Occasional climbing of ladders and navigating through challenging terrain will be required.
