Job Title: Support Mechanical Commissioning Agent (CxA)

Location: Various Locations including Fayetteville/Douglasville, GA; Boydton/Ashburn or Manassas, VA; Jackson, MS; Santa Clara/San Jose, CA

Job Summary:

Are you an engineering enthusiast with a passion for ensuring that mechanical systems operate at their best? We are seeking a dedicated Support Mechanical Commissioning Agent (CxA) to join our team. As an integral part of our commissioning process, you will leverage your technical expertise to validate that mechanical systems are performing according to design specifications and Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR). You will be responsible for systematic verification and testing while adhering to all five levels of commissioning as outlined in ASHRAE Guideline 0.

This role requires you to work onsite whenever testing or inspections are scheduled, ensuring that you are present during crucial project phases. Candidates must be local to the listed areas or willing to travel to these locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and apply available training documentation to enhance daily work activities.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, engineers of record, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors in a clear, confident, and professional manner.
  • Familiarize yourself with the commissioning process to effectively execute tasks in the field.
  • Develop commissioning (Cx) procedures using provided templates, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Assist in creating Cx schedules by learning about testing durations and project timelines.
  • Support the development of load bank plans to test mechanical systems during integrated testing sessions.
  • Contribute to the development of the Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) verification plan, conducting TAB verification as directed.
  • Install data loggers in designated areas for accurate data collection under supervision.
  • Execute functional testing alongside team members, documenting findings in a daily onsite testing log.
  • Perform infrared (IR) scanning and analysis, accurately recording data for reporting and review.
  • Mark infrared photos for mechanical equipment and assist in the preparation of IST reports, including Excel charts of collected data.

Qualifications:

  • Work Experience: No prior experience required; however, a strong interest in mechanical systems is essential.
  • Education: A 4-year college degree or equivalent field experience is preferred.
  • Training: Not necessary, but a general understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems is a plus.
  • Military Experience: Relevant military experience is advantageous.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Mathematical Skills: Strong ability to calculate figures and amounts, including percentages and proportions.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to understand instructions and convey information simply and clearly.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities and leadership potential.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Must have a dedicated home office suitable for daily responsibilities, with ability to travel to project sites 50-75% of the time.
  • Travel rotation typically consists of three weeks on-site followed by one week of remote work.
  • Local candidates will work primarily on-site.
  • Responsibilities may require frequent physical activity, including standing for extended periods, moving in rugged conditions, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to handle and transport test equipment weighing up to 30 pounds, and occasional ladder use or movement in constrained spaces may be required.
